The National Niemann-Pick Disease Foundation (NNPDF) invites applications for research fellowships examining the biology of Niemann-Pick Type C (NPC), a lethal neuro-degenerative disease for which there are no effective therapies.

Those eligible to apply for funding are:

Preference will be given to research projects developing new therapies for NPC, and translational research projects that improve our understanding of the biology, pathogenesis and potential treatment of NPC Disease.

The NNPDF Fellowships provide support of $50,000 per annum for two years ($30,000 per annum for three years for predoctoral fellowships) and are renewable based on performance.  Applicants must be currently associated with a recognized laboratory.

These fellowships are named for Peter G. Pentchev, Ph.D. a pioneer in Niemann-Pick Disease Research, and supporter of the NNPDF.  Dr. Pentchev was honored for his contributions at the recent NNPDF Family Support and Medical Conference.  Read more about Dr. Pentchev's support of the families of the NNPDF and their "Quest for a Cure" here.

Applications for the Peter G. Pentchev Research Fellowships are due May 15, 2015, and should be submitted by email to the Research Committee Chair
